For some time we’ve been trialling with the idea brewing a light lager to compliment Sun Bear Little Hazy. Not light in ‘carbs’ but light in ABV. We always knew that if we were going down this path, it needed to present as a ‘full flavoured’ beer without any shortcuts. And, something that would fit in with the expressiveness of all Little Bang beers, albeit a little paired back to suit the style.

Over the last two years we’d also brewed unique ‘Little Pale Ale’s’ for the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. So, when we got the opportunity to team again for 2026, it seemed like the right time to give this style a real shot.

For this beer, we knew that we wanted to keep the malt profile very clean simple, along with a neutral yeast profile. So where was the character come from? Well, we’ve always loved NZ hops in lager. Their ability to express ‘restrained’ expressiveness was perfectly suited. It’s predominantly Nelson Sauvin, including a little dry hop. We also paired this with some Cashmere. An awesome complementary hop that layers in some of the citrus and tropical notes.

In such a small and minimalist beer, it’s all about balance!
